THE PROJECT
The Restoration Press is a project founded by sisters, Suki and Kirat Saran, to restore the integrity of written expression. Writing, we believe, is an art form — one that has been much abused in our age. The ubiquity of print and digital platforms, where, daily, new ‘authors’ and ‘poets’ are born, lowers the standard of excellent writing, which strives not only to convey personal experience and emotion, but also to do so in a masterful way. This project aims not to dissuade or discourage the pursuit of writing by any person, nor do its founders claim a right to the province of excellence; we do, however, stake our right to a genuine effort — the fruition lies in its reception.
THE FOUNDERS

Suki Saran
Suki is a literary and visual artist — a writer and philosopher, with particular interest in classic literature and ancient philosophy; as well as a creator and curator of visual art, including storytelling through mediums such as still life and large-scale installations.

Kirat Saran
Kirat is an independent thinker and writer, passionate about advocating for humanistic concerns in a deeply dehumanized world. The central question that guides her writing and thought is how can we become more fully human?
THE BOOKS
Each copy is expertly handcrafted in Florence, Italy by Giannini Firenze 1856 — seventh–generation printers and bookbinders, working with exclusive materials and traditional methods. We work closely with the printers and binders to design the books, and bring them to completion: the pages are sewn together with cotton thread; the covers are clothbound with the finest linen, then embossed with gold detailing; and the front cover features an original inset film photograph. These copies are intended to be collected and cherished as rare treasures — only 100 copies of each book are produced, no more.
